About
I am a photojournalist/documentary photographer, specialising in photography as a platform for advocacy, particularly concerning the rights of marginalised groups, with a focus on women's rights. Exploring the narratives conveyed through the medium of photography, recognising how it plays a powerful role in shaping societal perceptions and strengthening awareness of critical social issues.
Throughout my life, supporting women and advocating for social change have been vital to me. Growing up in my generation, while not inherently detrimental although saying that I have experienced situations that should have never taken place. As a mother of daughters, I strive to instil in them a sense of empowerment and self-worth. It is of utmost importance to me that they do not perceive themselves as subordinate or marginalised individuals but rather as equals deserving of respect and recognition within society.
My focus is on the involvement of females in various sectors of sport, specifically aiming to support women who aspire to engage in playing, coaching, media, and officiating roles. This initiative seeks to address and challenge the gender disparities that persist in these predominantly male-dominated roles. For females who deserve to have their stories told and heard and to help elevate women in sports to campaign for equal opportunities and visibility.
I believe leveraging female Identity for strategic advantage offers powerful and captivating sports photography that celebrates women's strength, skill, and spirit in sports. Unlike conventional sports photography, which often sidelines female athletes, I endeavour to create bold, dynamic imagery that amplifies their accomplishments and showcases the intensity, grace, and determination behind every performance or role, showcasing an alternative narrative to conventional sports photography.
